Among other things I had them do, they installed a cabin air filter, charging $39.53 for the part, and $54.42 for labor, for a total of $93.95. I appealed to Ty, the manager, asking him if it was a mistake to charge $54.42 for 5 minutes labor. He said he should have caught it before he charged me, but that he was not authorized to give me a credit on my credit card, that the owner had to do that. He said he would have the owner call me as soon as possible. The owner called 8 days later and processed a refund of $45.97, bringing the labor amount down to $8.45, which is acceptable.

While evacuating from Houston to Austin during Harvey, my truck developed a worrying problem with the power steering. While the truck was being towed--courtesy of my insurance company--the lady from L&M was kind enough to come and pick us up--I was traveling with my two children. This set the tone for my experience with L&M. I found the mechanic/manager Ty to be friendly, helpful, and professional. He explained clearly, with demonstrations, what work could be done to address the issue and did not oversell or pressure me. He also completed all the work on time. If I lived in the Bastrop area, I would give Ty all my work.

We were camping at Bastrop State Park with our 5th wheel trailer when the truck started acting up. I was convinced it was the transmission, and was prepared to fork out several thousand dollars and extend our stay by several days before being able to get home. I told my sad tale to Ty in the office, who treated me very well. He listened to me, then we drove the truck back to the campsite and he drove it back to the shop. Not more than two hours later he called back to tell me the diagnostics found nothing wrong. He even told me why my ABS light had been on for several years, but didn't press to repair it. I asked him to go ahead and change the transmission fluid and filter since it was due anyway. After performing that service, which gave them opportunity to look deeper and still find nothing wrong, he brought the truck back to me before noon. The only thing he charged me for was the fluid change. I was beyond relieved. We both knew I was at his mercy, and I was treated very fairly. We made it home on schedule with no problems.
