Very restful after a looonnnngggg day of driving! They were able to accommodate me on short notice (on a weekday), and when I checked in the host asked if I had any dietary restrictions for breakfast the next day and recommended some places downtown to try for dinner. Over a great home-cooked breakfast we learned the entertaining history of Bastrop! Easy walking distance to downtown and the river, and a short drive to Bastrop State Park or Austin.
Great stop in Bastrop, the service is great. Fresh made breakfast cooked by the owner while you wait really starts the day off great. The house is very old and speaks when you walk. Each room has personality and really makes you appreciate modern life. Very much worth staying a few days and relaxing.
We have an infant and a toddler. As a 40th birthday gift to my wife we chose the Pecan Street Inn as our first getaway in 2 months since our baby's birth. We had some dear friends look after the children and took a much needed break. Bill was our host and did a phenomenal job of helping us to feel welcome and at home. The house itself has a fascinating story. Shawn recommended the Piney Creek Chop House (4 minutes away) which was absolutely delicious. We slept like, well, babies...if your baby sleeps. The breakfast was very good and Bill had some great stories to share. If you are looking for a unique weekend reprieve we highly recommend the Pecan Street Inn. It was really great.
