TO OUR FAMILY, AND WE ALL APPRECIATE ALL THE HELPFUL ACTS
DR. LERMA IS EXACTLY WHAT EVERY PHYSICIAN SHOULD BE. CARING,
HE HAS DONE FOR US.
This doctor does not like to give out medications that they believe are not needed! So if you are going to get help and not just meds, then this is the place for you. They have all been very good to me and my family's healthcare needs.
I found myself back 7 days later with an upper respiratory infection. I did see Dr. Lerma this visit. He treated more than just the ribs. He gave shots and meds to treat the congestion in my lungs and meds for the coughing/hacking.
I had fallen and sustained trauma to my left side (broke/cracked ribs). If I am going to be honest I was not very happy with my first visit with the Nurse Practitioner. I was very upfront with not wanting any pain medication as I have not had good experiences with them in the past. It was also my attempt to make it clear that I was not looking for "Pain Pills". The Nurse Practitioner seemed very preoccupied and inattentive to my level of discomfort and other ailments. I had also developed some sinus congestion (sneezing) and a mild cough. I simply chalked it up to a busy Friday.
I very much appreciated Dr. Lerma's attention to all my needs and yes, bed side manner. He is now my Primary Care Physician. Note: I am not a frequent Dr. visitor or reviewer, However, I am compelled to share my thoughts on these two visits. I in no way mean to speak ill of the Nurse Practitioner. I too am a service provider and realize how it can be difficult to be "ON" all the time, especially when dealing with uncooperative people. I was not that person during either visit.
I thought it best to not simply rate but review my experience with Dr. Lerma. I did not go to him for pain medications (I saw a specialist for that), so some other reviewers' suggestions that might be cause for bad reviews does not apply to me. In the years I saw Dr. Lerma he was frequently rushed, performed incomplete check-ups and he referred me to one subpar specialist. I continued seeing him because I believed he was the best my insurance would get. (My previous doctor was a rather notoriously bad Bastrop doctor who made the news.) The last straw came when some very important blood results were not relayed to me. As a cancer survivor still under the care of a oncologist, these results were important for myself and my oncologist to see if further action was needed. I had to call a few times and when I finally got the results two weeks later, the office personnel said they had been available for almost all of that time. When I asked why they could not seem to find them in my previous calls, the office member was not particularly nice or concerned. When I asked her name, she refused to tell me. Now that I have a new doctor, I can see worlds of difference in the care I receive. I do not ever feel rushed or like I am part of an assembly line of patients. My doctor actually listens to me, has helped me off painkillers, and is addressing problems Dr. Lerma did not. If he takes on fewer patients, perhaps he will be the doctor to all of us that he is to the few that sing his praises.
KIND, AND ALTOGETHER WONDERFUL. HE HAS BEEN SO HELPFUL
This dr is great
